Rallying Support for the Rohingya Refugees: A Call to Action

In recent years, the Rohingya crisis has escalated dramatically, with countless refugees fleeing Myanmar for Bangladesh in search of safety and sanctuary. These refugees, carrying little more than the haunting memories of persecution and loss, find temporary refuge in Cox’s Bazar, a region now marked by the sprawling expanse of makeshift shelters that constitute the world’s largest Rohingya refugee camps.

The Unfolding Humanitarian Tragedy

Upon arrival at the Balukhali and Kutupalong camps, the sheer scale of the refugee settlements, stretching as far as the eye can see, starkly underscores the magnitude of this humanitarian catastrophe. Families huddle in flimsy shelters amidst the pervasive stench of sewage, facing overwhelming hardships and the constant threat of danger, especially for vulnerable groups like widowed women and children, many of whom bear the scars of violence and abuse.

Witnessing Desperation and Providing Aid

The desperation among the refugees is palpable, with long queues of people waiting under the scorching sun, hopeful for any assistance. The distribution of aid reveals the dire conditions they endure—malnourishment, trauma, and an unyielding struggle for survival. Our efforts to distribute food parcels, hygiene packs, and blankets offer a glimpse of relief, yet the sight of disputes over food parcels highlights the acute level of desperation.

The Impact of Your Generosity

Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to make a significant difference by providing essential supplies to the refugees. Each food parcel, designed to sustain a family for approximately four weeks, includes basic necessities like rice, lentils, cooking oil, and more. Additionally, the distribution of hygiene packs and blankets aims to offer some comfort to those bracing for the colder months.

The Ongoing Need for Support

Despite the efforts of the Bangladesh Army to maintain order during aid distribution, accessing the camps remains challenging. However, through the collaboration with Crisis Aid and local partners, we have managed to deliver crucial aid. As we plan further missions to the camps, the need for continued support is more pressing than ever. The refugees’ request for stretchers, to carry their dead and sick, is a heart-wrenching reminder of the dire conditions they face daily.

How You Can Help

The plight of the Rohingya refugees is not just their test but ours too—a test of our humanity and willingness to extend support in times of dire need. We are in a privileged position to help, and it is imperative that we continue to rally support for our Rohingya brothers and sisters. Your contributions can help provide much-needed aid and facilitate the implementation of essential services like water pumps within the camps.

As we continue to witness one of the gravest humanitarian crises of our time, the need for collective action has never been more critical. Your support can bring hope and tangible relief to those who have lost everything. Let us stand together in solidarity with the Rohingya people, contributing to their cause and keeping them in our prayers. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who rely on our compassion and generosity.

Why Help Orphans?

And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive. (Saying), “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We don’t want from you either reward or gratitude. Indeed, we fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful”. (The Noble Qur’an, 76:8-10)

An estimated 140 million children classified as orphans, 15.1 million have lost both parents.

A monthly regular donation is all it takes to make a change. £10, £20, £30 or any amount you desire can be setup as a regular monthly payment to provide them with all the love and care they need for a happy childhood.
